Pores
& Texture.

Enlarged pores and rough skin surface are typically the visible signs of deeper dermal changes — loss of collagen support, sun damage, and sebaceous activity. Treatment targets the underlying structure rather than the surface.

Clinical overview

Why pores look the way they do.

Pore size is influenced by genetics, sebaceous gland activity, sun damage, and the loss of dermal collagen around each pore. The "stretched" pore appearance that develops over time mainly reflects loss of structural support — not pore enlargement per se.

Treatments that build dermal collagen around the pore (RF microneedling, picosecond laser, thulium resurfacing) typically improve apparent pore size and overall skin texture. Multi-session protocols give cumulative results.

Treatment options

Treatments most often used.

Picosecond Laser
Picosecond-pulse laser refines surface texture and tightens visible pore openings through dermal collagen remodelling.

Fractional RF Microneedling (Morpheus 8®)
Microneedles deliver RF energy at depth, building dermal collagen and remodelling skin texture from within.

Thulium Fractional Laser (Lavieen®)
Fractional thulium laser improves surface refinement and skin tone across the whole treatment area.

Frequently asked

Common questions.

Can enlarged pores be permanently shrunk?
Not entirely — pore size is partly determined by genetics, sebum production, and skin elasticity. Treatment can significantly reduce apparent pore size through collagen remodelling and surface refinement, but maintenance is typically required.
What makes pores look bigger over time?
Sebum oxidation, dead skin accumulation in the pore opening, loss of dermal collagen support around the pore, and sun damage. Treatment that addresses dermal collagen (RF microneedling, picosecond laser) typically improves apparent pore size.
How long until I see results?
Surface improvement is often visible within 1 to 2 weeks. Underlying collagen remodelling continues for 3 to 6 months after each session. Multi-session protocols are typical.
