What is fractional RF microneedling?

Fractional RF microneedling is a fractional radiofrequency (RF) microneedling device by InMode that delivers RF energy deep into the dermis and subdermis through an array of gold-plated micro-needles. Unlike surface-only treatments, It can penetrate to a depth of up to 8mm, reaching the fibrous septa beneath the skin.

This depth triggers profound collagen and elastin remodelling, fat coagulation, and tissue contraction — producing results that combine the benefits of microneedling, RF skin tightening, and mild body contouring in a single treatment.

What does it treat?

  • Skin laxity and early jowling on the face and neck
  • Deep acne scars and textural irregularities
  • Stretch marks
  • Body areas: abdomen, thighs, arms (bra bulge, inner thighs)
  • Facial fat reduction and contouring (double chin, cheek fat)
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores and uneven texture

The Procedure

A topical anaesthetic cream is applied 45–60 minutes before the procedure to ensure comfort. The treatment itself takes 45–75 minutes depending on the number of areas treated. A single-use, sterile needle tip is used for each patient — it is never reused.

During treatment, the device is systematically passed over the skin in overlapping passes at different depths and energy levels, following a carefully planned protocol for each patient's anatomy and goals.

Results & Recovery

Fractional RF microneedling has a slightly longer downtime than some other treatments — most patients experience 2–5 days of redness, swelling, and mild skin texture changes (the "sandpaper" phase) before the skin settles. We provide a comprehensive aftercare kit and instructions.

Collagen remodelling continues for 3–6 months post-treatment. Most patients see significant improvement in skin firmness and texture from a single session, with optimal results after 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the treatment painful? +
With adequate topical anaesthesia applied beforehand, Fractional RF microneedling is well-tolerated. You will feel heat and pressure during treatment. We can also offer oral medication to enhance comfort for patients who are more sensitive. Pain is rated 3–5/10 with numbing cream.
How many sessions are needed? +
Most patients benefit from 1–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. The number depends on your starting point and goals. Many patients are satisfied with a single session and return annually for maintenance.
Is it safe for darker skin tones? +
Yes. Because The device delivers energy below the skin surface via needles (not through the skin surface like ablative lasers), it is safe and effective for all skin tones including Fitzpatrick types IV–VI.
Can this replace a surgical facelift? +
Fractional RF microneedling supports results for mild to moderate skin laxity and is often described as a "lunch hour facelift" — though with some downtime. For very significant laxity, surgical options may be more appropriate. Our doctors will advise you honestly at consultation.
